Survey

ECOS offers a wide range of services related to marine inspection and data acquisition, including hydrographic and geophysical sampling, digital aerial surveys, environmental sampling, and underwater inspections, utilizing numerous technological advances.

We have in-house equipment for bathymetry surveys up to 500 meters deep (Multibeam Norbit iWBM-LR) and Side Scan Sonar for geomorphological studies (C-MAX DF 100/325kHz).

We also have georeferenced underwater cameras, ROVs, and 360° filming systems, allowing us to choose the most optimal solutions to meet the requirements of each project.

Bathymetric studies

Bathymetric studies show us the marine relief, which allows us to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the seabed and its biotopes. This type of study is essential for the development and monitoring of marine projects.

Geophysical studies

ECOS specializes in collecting geophysical data for offshore studies (layout of outfalls, pipelines, marine energy, cables, or other civil engineering projects), using innovative data collection techniques (sub-bottom profile, side scan sonar, multi-beam).

Digital Aerial Surveys

Thanks to the development of our own technology, we acquire aerial data to conduct digital aerial surveys of birds and marine mammals more quickly and efficiently. This innovative approach allows us to cover large areas in less time, improve the accuracy of environmental studies, and minimize disturbance to marine wildlife. This way, we optimize decision-making in conservation and sustainable planning projects in marine environments.

Underwater Inspection

ECOS specializes in geophysical data sampling for offshore studies (outfall layouts, pipelines, marine energy, cables, or other engineering projects). We have experience in underwater inspections, both using underwater cameras and ROVs, and through direct observation by diving teams. We work in a wide range of sectors, including water, oil and gas, renewable energy, and civil coastal engineering projects, using innovative data collection techniques (sub-bottom profile, side scan sonar, multi-beam).

The overall increase in population and living standards we have witnessed in recent decades has led to rapid socioeconomic development without consistent environmental planning. At the ECOS Group, we believe in sustainable development, promoting a lifestyle consistent with resource and environmental conservation.

One of ECOS’s main pillars is focused on minimizing environmental impacts, integrating development with the environment, and providing solutions that allow for environmental improvement of our resources.

We specialize in the environmental processing of projects, both on land and at sea, in industries such as onshore and offshore renewables, aquaculture, landfills, and roads, seeking a balance between conservation and development.

Environmental land management projects

Land, as a resource, requires environmental planning that respects the unique characteristics of each area and allows for its rational use through the application of regulations that permit or prohibit certain land uses. At ECOS, we conduct environmental studies applied to land management plans.

Planning, management, and monitoring of protected areas

The creation and conservation of protected areas is essential for maintaining biological diversity. At ECOS, we plan, manage, and monitor Protected Natural Areas, both terrestrial and marine.

Environmental Impact Assessments

The implementation of any project in the natural environment involves a transformation of the environment, and in many cases has consequences for environmental health and the integrity of ecosystems. The purpose of Environmental Impact Assessments is to quantify and assess the consequences on the surrounding environment, as well as to propose corrective and alternative measures that minimize the impact on the ecosystem caused by these human activities.

Monitoring Plans

Pre- and post-operational monitoring of an area, whether a protected area or not, is vitally important for detecting potential changes that occur in the ecosystem, as well as for evaluating and quantifying them on a spatial and temporal scale.

Water quality studies

The physical, chemical, and biological parameters of water give us an idea of its condition and environmental quality, indicating the degree of health and/or pollution. Water is an essential element for the life of the species that live in it, serving as a good bioindicator of its condition.

Sediment studies

Physical studies of sediment help us understand sedimentary dynamics, while chemical and biological studies allow us to assess the health of the sediment and understand how anthropogenic activities affect the environment.

Taxonomic Studies

The structure of fauna and flora communities, both marine and terrestrial, is strongly influenced by the nature of their surrounding environment. Understanding and classifying the organisms in these communities into groups, families, and/or species provides invaluable information for understanding spatial and temporal changes in populations.

Oceanography

One of the company’s specialties is the acquisition of oceanographic data and its processing using numerical models. This allows us to perform numerous types of work related to effluent dispersion, maritime climate studies, sedimentation studies, hydrodynamic studies, and more.

Hydrodynamic Studies

Hydrodynamic studies help us understand the extent of spill dispersion, as well as the areas that may be affected by it and their quantification; this allows for better management of the marine environment and the conservation of protected areas. We carry out current meter installations, hydrodynamic studies, advection-dispersion studies, and particle analysis.

Dispersion Studies / Spill Simulation

We have specialized software to simulate numerous conditions and spills, allowing us to carry out impact prevention tasks with high reliability and precision. We work with Mike 3, Mike 21, Comrrix, BrihNe, SMC...

Maritime climate studies / coastal dynamics

One of the main challenges in the field of maritime and coastal engineering is the influence of waves in the study region. With specific software, the risks of coastal infrastructure design under adverse oceanographic conditions can be minimized, allowing for better decision-making.
