Coastal engineering

At ECOS, we work to develop efficient and sustainable solutions that preserve the balance of the marine environment. Our experience ranges from coastal restoration to the design and manufacture of submarine outfalls and advanced waste management systems. Thanks to technological innovation and our knowledge of the environment, we offer projects that minimize environmental impact and guarantee the stability and functionality of coastal areas.

Recovery of the coastal strip

ECOS has developed projects related to coastal restoration and improvement in recent years. These projects include improvements to maritime access, the creation of natural pools, and action plans for extreme events, all of which are part of our portfolio.

Design and manufacture of submarine outfalls

Proper management of effluents and waste is one of the main tools for minimizing the impact of effluents on the environment. Proper design minimizes their impact, and at ECOS, we specialize in land-to-sea effluent design.

Brine spill management: design and manufacture of diffuser hoods

We offer advanced solutions for brine discharge management with Brine V+1, a Venturi-based eductor that optimizes dilution in the marine environment, improves dispersion, and accelerates the mixing process. This modular and adaptable solution meets stringent environmental regulations at a reduced cost, ensuring efficient and sustainable discharge management in both desalination plants and other industrial facilities.

Beach stabilization

Our knowledge of the environment and the use of appropriate tools allow us to develop projects aimed at dune stabilization, stabilization of sedimentary dynamics, etc., such as the projects developed to restore the sediment balance and the ideal profile of Maspalomas beach.

Oceanography

One of the company’s specialties is the acquisition of oceanographic data and its processing using numerical models. This allows us to perform numerous types of work related to effluent dispersion, maritime climate studies, sedimentation studies, hydrodynamic studies, and more.

Hydrodynamic studies

Hydrodynamic studies help us understand the extent of spill dispersion, as well as the areas that may be affected by it and their quantification; which allows for better management of the marine environment and the conservation of protected areas. We carry out current meter installations, hydrodynamic studies, advection-dispersion studies, and particle analysis.

Dispersion studies / spill simulation

We have specialized software to simulate numerous conditions and spills, allowing us to carry out impact prevention tasks with high reliability and precision. We work with Mike 3, Mike 21, Cormix, BriHne, SMC...

Maritime climate studies / coastal dynamics

One of the main challenges in the field of maritime and coastal engineering is the influence of waves in the study region. With specific software, the risks of coastal infrastructure design under adverse oceanographic conditions can be minimized, allowing for better decision-making.

Survey

ECOS offers a wide range of services related to marine inspection and data acquisition, including hydrographic and geophysical sampling, digital aerial surveys, environmental sampling, and underwater inspections, utilizing numerous technological advances.

We have in-house equipment for bathymetry surveys up to 500 meters deep (Multibeam Norbit iWBM-LR) and Side Scan Sonar for geomorphological studies (C-MAX DF 100/325kHz).

We also have georeferenced underwater cameras, ROVs, and 360° filming systems, allowing us to choose the most optimal solutions to meet the requirements of each project.

Bathymetric studies

Bathymetric studies show us the marine relief, which allows us to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the seabed and its biotopes. This type of study is essential for the development and monitoring of marine projects.

Geophysical studies

ECOS specializes in collecting geophysical data for offshore studies (layout of outfalls, pipelines, marine energy, cables, or other civil engineering projects), using innovative data collection techniques (sub-bottom profile, side scan sonar, multi-beam).

Digital Aerial Surveys

Thanks to the development of our own technology, we acquire aerial data to conduct digital aerial surveys of birds and marine mammals more quickly and efficiently. This innovative approach allows us to cover large areas in less time, improve the accuracy of environmental studies, and minimize disturbance to marine wildlife. This way, we optimize decision-making in conservation and sustainable planning projects in marine environments.

Underwater Inspection

ECOS specializes in geophysical data sampling for offshore studies (outfall layouts, pipelines, marine energy, cables, or other engineering projects). We have experience in underwater inspections, both using underwater cameras and ROVs, and through direct observation by diving teams. We work in a wide range of sectors, including water, oil and gas, renewable energy, and civil coastal engineering projects, using innovative data collection techniques (sub-bottom profile, side scan sonar, multi-beam).
